Born and raised in the heart of New York City, Yxia attended the Harlem School of the Arts where she got her first taste of formal ballet training as a kid. Later she studied at the Ballet Hispanico of New York and at Carnegie Hall with Martha Chapman. She also studied flamenco with Victorio Khorjan at Broadway’s Steps and the legendary Fazil’s at Time Square. A self taught Hip-hop dancer and choreographer she’s had the opportunity to work and dance with choreography notables: Jamie King, Laurie Ann Gibson, Broadway’s Jerry Mitchell, Tina Landon , Fatima Robinson, Hi-Hat, Jamal Sims, Rosero McCoy, Buddha Stretch, Nu-Stylz, Sho-tyme & Tanisha Scott.
She’s traveled around the world performing on tours, award shows (MTV Awards, American Music Awards, The World Music Awards, The Source & BET Awards, VH-1Hip Hop Honors, VH-1 Fashion Rocks!), commercials, music videos, and television (BET, MTV, SNL, Chris Rock Show, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE, Soul Train, Carson Daly, Showtime at the Apollo, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, KTLA, SYTYCD, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Wendy Williams show).
She was a backup dancer on tour & stage with Salt N’ Pepa, Jay Z, Britney Spears, P.Diddy, Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Snoop Dog, NAS, Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Kim, Gwen Stefani, Neyo, 50 Cent, Wyclef Jean & Sean Paul, to name a few.
She thrives to share with the world her endless enthusiasm for well being and longevity through dance and fitness. She currently teaches Zumba, Hip Hop dance, Street Jazz, Jamaican Reggae Dancehall, Brazilian Samba and body sculpting through out different locations in New York City. Her goal is to help others transform their minds, bodies and overall health through fun, safe, challenging and effective workouts.
