Student Journeys @ Z Club NY – Corina B

Corina’s life is inspired by her drive to feed her soul with new adventures and activities that fill her with positivity. It was such a thrill to get to hear Corina’s journey through Zumba. For her, it is “food for the soul”. She shares about her favorite classes, instructors, and how she’s discovered a healing and energizing experience through Z Club NY… – by Yali Szulanski for Z Club NY.

Corina BHow has taking classes with Z Club NY benefited your life?
Zumba has completely changed my life. I had back surgery about twenty years ago, and it was very hard for me because I am a very active person. I had constant back pain and I found that I had to stop the activity I was engaged in. I started doing Zumba at Z Club NY about a year ago, and I feel better than I ever have! My back pain has almost disappeared and I was able to get back into shape.

I always say that Zumba is like food for the soul – if I am down or sad, or even just tired, I take a class and I leave feeling so happy, energetic, and with a big smile on my face. I truly feel that I have found something I LOVE doing – and the best part is that it’s something I really look forward to!

What inspires you to succeed in class and in your life?
I’m inspired by knowing that I can always do better, and do more – especially things that make me feel healthy and fantastic. I love trying new classes, new challenges  – and just smiling and feeling good.

How has Zumba / Z Club NY supported your health and fitness goals?
My health is important to me, as is staying fit. When I gained weight after getting married  (about 20lbs), I felt like I needed to do something. I got back in shape within a year and I feel great. Z Club NY offers so many different types of classes for different kinds of students – from beginners to the more advanced. It is a place where you can grow and continue to be challenged. They also offer a class called X-Trim, where half the class is Zumba and the other half is toning. I believe that this complements the dance as it helps your body lose the weight and also tone and define your muscles.

What have you learned about yourself through taking classes at Z Club NY?
I have learned that if you really put your heart into something, you can accomplish anything. I was able to lose the weight, get more active, more flexible – and I felt better because it feeds my soul in such a wonderful way!

How did you come across Z Club NY and Zumba in general? What is your favorite part about Z Club NY?
I tried Zumba for the first time in Miami when visiting my sister. I LOVED it! By coincidence, when I returned to New York, a friend of mine told me that she was taking Zumba in a place close to my house. I decided to join and try the unlimited one-week package for new students at Z Club NY and I was hooked instantly! The part I love the most is how I feel after I finish each class! I feel happy, relaxed, tired, but ready to take over the world!

Which classes/instructors are your favorite? Why?
I really love Edmee, Xavier, and Jamie Drye’s classes. Their styles are very different, but they have an amazing energy that draws me into wanting to do a great class. I really feel as though they notice me in the class. They make me feel happy and challenged!

What is something unique about yourself that you’d like to share?
I am a person who loves to help people in any way that I can. Even though it sounds crazy, I feel so happy and wonderful with Zumba that I have tried to bring a lot of my friends to classes with me. I have to say that for many of them, Zumba classes at Z Club NY have brought them relief, laughter, and many good things. It makes me happy to share something that makes me feel so much joy!
